Does anyone have any idea what decade the mint is planning to start collecting this garbage. These are not going away like the cents are. They're all just self-destructing on their own.:sour::eek::blackalien: gar-1.JPG gar-2.JPG

I personally believe they should have a garbage turn in. For every piece of garbage turned in you will receive a brand-new quarter in return. Can you imagine how fast the garbage would be pulled out a circulation. It's kind of scary.:blackalien:

Dave to answer your other question. Since we are not allowed to post photos there. This is the answer to your question.

I was about to cite the Mint's mutilated coin redemption procedure, but then noticed that they only redeem mutilated current coins at bullion value, not face value. This could be the way to get melt value for your pre-1982 cents, unless they're deemed non-current.

Try making a "worst possible" set of quarters. I kinda want to do something like that.

Unless they have changed recently ( since April of this year) their "metal value" for clad dimes, quarters and half dollars that are mutilated but still identifiable as US coins is $20 a pound, and a pound of clad coins has a face value of $20. So they DO give you the face value for them. HOWEVER, right now the programs is under suspension til Nov due to abuses of it by Chinese importers. They were importing mutilated clad half dollars that were claiming were found in cars being scrapped. Problem is they have redeemed more half dollars than the mint ever made. They were making counterfeit clad halves for a few cents apiece, mutilating them, and then redeeming them at the US Mint for 50 cents apiece.
