It would cost 1.6M euros/ or more. I know that if I owned it/ I would look at it, every nite before bedtime/ and sleep well:)

Its amazing how photos are taken. Heritage are experts/ their auction photos make coin look better then in hand. However some auctions/ dealers do bad job, so coin looks much better then foto. Of course a bad foto can mean less interest for higher bids.

I think Friedberg should look into adding these. I do not think they have good sources for coinage from
    visigoths/ merovingians/ sasanians.

Yes, and another thing I would like to see added is a section which lists in which museums the really rare gold coins are located.

Thanks! My only issue with it is that I don't know whether it was minted in the 6th or 7th century, so I don't know under which century to file it. :D

    Maurice wa emperor from 602-10AD
He suceeded Tiberius II Constantine 578-82 in 582AD In 602AD a nasty guy named Phocas usurped power/ and made himself emperor. So, he had Maurice Tiberius and his son Theodosius III thrown into a dungeon. He then had them executed. He forced the Father to watch his son get his head chopped off/ then the guy with the axe/ removed Maurice's head:dead: Correction from other post/ his son had coins struck in his name (Theodosius III) in 601AD)
So your coin is 5th century.

You mean 6th century? And yes, Phocas vas very nasty, and he was also vastly incompetent, thus weakening the Empire of the Romans considerably (if his rebellion and (mis)rule didn't happen, maybe the Empire of the Romans would still be around).

Well, we had first the Seljuks Turks decimate Romanus IV at Manzikert/ then my hero Mehmet II finished them/ later went on to destroy the worst monster, Vlad Tepes "the Impaler" of the nasty Wallachian Voivode in 1462. Of course one Josef Stalin took over the title by killing 50M+ (14M) Ukrainians in 1928-34. Mehmed-vs-Vlad.jpg

Recently graded and I think the wear of the host coin affected their opinion of the counterstamp.
