    Hello,

I believe I have a good idea of what this coin is, but I'm posting here in case some one points out something I missed or if I'm completely wrong on my identification.

    Here are photos:

I'm thinking it is a 1327/4 (1912) KM# 754 Ottoman-Turkey Gold 100 Kurus. Unfortunately, I do not have a scale for weighing it so I cannot give that specification, but the design matches up.

If anyone thinks I'm off here, please let me know.

    Thanks!

These coins do not have the denomination on them so one needs the diameter or weight to tell the value.

What is the diameter of the coin?

Right, I actually was able to determine the denomination (at least I think) because the 100 kurus was the only one I found with all the same design elements on my coin.

Well, they all have essentially the same design elements, but the spacing of the characters on the reverse especially was what made me think it is the 100 kurus

I just put it next to a Jefferson Nickel, and the gold coin is a little larger than the nickel.

Took the coin to work today to weigh it in one of the chemistry classrooms and, even though the school scales only go to one decimal, the weight came in at a 7.2 g, pretty much cementing the authenticity of it.

And, as if that wasn't enough, the teacher who's classroom I used even had a few of those gold testing kits and the coin tested for approx. 22 k gold, so it all checks out!

Very happy to know this coin is authentic now. I'll probably hang on to it for a little while as it is one of only a small handful of gold coins I've ever owned.

Even though this is not even close to fitting with my collecting discipline, it'll find a nice place somewhere amongst my other coins.
