It has already gone 375 GBP over the estimate, and there are still 4 days left until the end of the auction...

 

I did try to get this one from Heritage. I had proxy bid of 1200/ at start of auction. Actual bid was 450US when coin was on live auction. It went for 2500. Its not a rare coin.
Last year same auction firm/ a RRRRR AV 1/8 Dinar/ Fatimids/ Al-Aziz unlisted/ Steve Album never even thought one existed. I ended up winning a MS-62 ex (Unique) for 800US!

These come up quite often in auctions/ Leu has one too/ not as nice as this one.
Baldwins had a mint state one in 2014 event that sold for 350 UK pounds. It was nicer then Heritage MS-66 ex. I won 17 Islamic Dinars from them/ all perfect. Their MS really means MINT.

 

I saw that one too and I didn't like it.

I am really looking forward to Baldwin's Islamic Coin Auction in March.

I got the approval from Jean Elsen & ses Fils today to bid at their auction and I have put in bids for the gold coins I am interested in, but now I will have to wait a month to find out if I have won any of them...

Yes/ I have a perfect MS one from Numisma (Portuguese) auction in 2016. It was unsold /so I bought it for opening bid 1600 euros. Here is my fav. one.

 

Nice, I was thinking about bidding for this one, but then I noticed I have too much money tied up in the other ones, they have given me a 5000 EUR budget cap, and since I have 3600 EUR tied up in other bids, I can't even put in a bid for this one at the moment.

I like that one too, but whenever I see it on offer anywhere, the price puts me off...

 

The nice coins are $$$$. Both are not rare/ and appear in many auctions/ I got mine for 3600 euros. Beautifull medieval coin. Auctions now charge 20% fees so it adds up.
For me its far worse/ I have to pay 1.50 Can. for a euro. Lucky you live in Croatia with euro!

Yes/ saw that one. They have a Burgundy Florin d'or Eudes IV NGC-58+ for 4950UK Pds= $8000 Can. Maybe I should move back to Germany or Croatia/ cheaper to buy coins.

 

I would be happy to have another actual gold coin enthusiast in the country, but I wonder if you could make the same amount of money in Croatia that you do in Canada? The average net wage in Canada is 4420 CAD, which is around 3023 EUR, while in Croatia the average net wage is 1208 EUR, and here in the capital Zagreb (the city itself has a population of around 770000, while the Zagreb metropolitan area has a population of around 1,2 million) it is around 1400 EUR.

 

Croatia is a beautifull Country. Also had struck AV coins in 1941. Few Countries produced gold coins in WW2.

Thank you, I am glad to be a part of a community full of people who are proper gold coin enthusiasts, in Croatia it is hard to find such people both on the internet and in real life, you would probably start crying if you entered the numismatic shops here in Croatia and saw how bad their gold coin offerings tend to be.

In regards to the physical professions such as yours, the official wage numbers in Croatia don't really matter, because the people working in them generally tend to not bother with things like giving receipts or reporting anywhere close to the actual amount of money they make to the Croatian version of the IRS.

I am sure that here in Zagreb you could make very good money for Croatian standards doing what you are doing in Canada now, I am just not sure whether or not your coin budget would be as large...

 

Its same here/ cash is king. During Croatian War of Independence from Serbs/ the latter caused much death and destruction. Milosevic ended up tried as a war criminal/ with other Serb commanders.
