I have in my possession a 1969-D floating roof penny with possible doubling on the obverse, the tip of the 6 appears to have 2 tips am i seeing double. I know its not strike doubling. This coin was graded by annex before i discovered these anamolies it recieved a grade of MS-62 RED. Can any of you good people tell me what i have here please my mind is going in circles.
Yes, you are seeing double…but not hub doubling. Your scope is showing reflection off the tip of the 6 making it seem like it is split or forked. This a very common occurrence with USB microscopes, which is shown you are using by the ring light LEDs in one of your pics. To eliminate this effect; turn off the ring light and use a small penlight or flashlight and try again. You can also diffuse the light by bouncing it off a white index card…imo…Spark edited to add: btw you have a partial floating roof.
The floating roof was an attempt to remove something on the reverse. Most likely a clash. Some of them are minor like yours and then some just have the top Portice showing. A true floating roof will be missing the designers initials.
ANACS? Let's see the slab. They don't attribute worthless doubling and floating roofs. No third party grader does.
I like to think that I and the other members are generally nice people. I see what I call "reflective doubling" from microscope use. Also, I back up @paddyman98 100% and he is a good person also.
Not worth the cost to do anything. It’s not the type of doubling you want. Just put in a flip and keep it.
Here's the slab you requested, hey i want to thank every one that responded so promptly i feal alot better.
