The Belgian auction company Jean Elsen & ses Fils has some interesting gold coins on offer at their current auction.

I dunno, man -- I'd take "I love my job" over any less-than-eight-figure lottery jackpot. :)

I on the otherhand, do not mind walking 250K a week for 7 1/2 months/ making 300K clear:)
Benefits are/ can afford nice lifestyle/ hopefully 67 vette/ 1200+ gold coins and best of all/ its healthy and keeps you in shape.

Do you remember how long it took for you to get approval to bid? I registered earlier today on their website, but it still says "At the moment You are not allowed to place bids.".

I coins at their auction that I have noticed so far that are of interest to me are:

Nasrid of Granada, Yusuf I bin Isma`il (AD 1333-1354/AH 734-755) AV dinar (although I probably won't bid on this particular coin because of whatever those brownish and greyish things on the top of the obverse are)

Visigoths, Sisebut (612-621), AV tremissis, Ispali (Séville)

    Burji Mamluk, al-Ashraf Qa'itbay (AD 1468-1496/AH 873-901) AV ashrafi

Mughal Empire, Shah Jahan (AD 1628-1658/AH 1037-1068) AV mohur, AH 1038

Hafsid, Abu 'Abdallah Muhammad I (AD 1249-1277/AH 647-675) AV 1/2 dinar

Murabitun (Almoravid), `Ali bin Yusuf (AD 1106-1142/AH 500-537) AV dinar, AH 531, al-Mariya.

I think it took 24 hrs. I like the AV 1488 Demi Noble/ Brabant.

    Thanks.

Nice coin:), I missed it because I totally ignored the "Coins of Brabant" section. :D

Anyway, the current Stephen Album auction is really bad, I found only one okay coin, a Fatimid gold dinar for which I put in a bid of 280 USD (which I don't plan on increasing if somebody outbids me).

Yeas/ the e-auctions always deal with second grade material. The ROOM auctions are the ones with better coins. With "hammered" coins it depended on the skill set of the guy striking the coin properly. Many of these are poorly made.
Since many were struck on thin flans/ many were bent by people not being carefull handling them.

I think that Auction 302 of Gorny & Mosch Giessener Münzhandlung has that Jovian gold solidus that you want, the coin in question is lot 535.

Interesting thing happened today, I decided to take my chances and contact K&M Numismatic directly to see if they would be willing to sell me any Indian gold coins that I am interested in outside of an auction and it turns out that they are willing to do it! We didn't reach any agreement today because they offered me just one gold coin that costs way too much (7000 USD) for me, but they should get the ones that are in the acceptable price range back next week from the grading companies, so I will probably manage to buy at least one nice gold coin from them soon! :)

I was offered "unsold" AV Tanka from Madura in MS-64 for 9KUS. That means 13K Canadian $. You are lucky to live in Croatia. The euro is strong/ Canada $ not so much!

    They offered me this coin:

    Bahmani 2.jpg

There are very few coins I would agree to pay 7000 USD or more for, and this one isn't even close to being one of them.

The price you got it for is what I would realistically expect it to cost.

In any case, I wrote that I am looking for Gujarati, Bahmani and Malwa gold tankas in the 1000 - 3000 USD range, and they agreed to send me offers in that range when they get the coins back from the grading companies next week. :)

They also asked whether I was interested in Mughal coins, and I wrote that I am interested in Mughal Gold Mohurs if they are in good condition, especially if a Gold Mohur of Jahan I is among them, so I will also get an offer on a Mughal Gold Mohur of Jahan I next week.

I have a perfect AV M from Shah Jahan I ex "Akola Hoard"
Its not graded/ but looks 66/67/68
I paid $240 US for it.:) I like the square gold tankas from Gujarat. I glanced thru my inventory / maybe ca$h poor but coin rich. Out of 1200 + gold coins/ 400 catalogue over 10K @ 300 between 5-9K/ 300 2-4K/ rest 210 under 250-1900

Forgot to include rest of the story. I bought that when I was 19. Back then it was that price. Shows how much inflation/ coins have gone up in past years.

Yes, some coins that are now worth small fortunes were practically being given away decades ago.
