Been looking for a decent wartime to fill a slot in a Whittam album for grand kids. all the 2003 and up are proofs. I need a wartime and a buffalo 64 or 65. Is this 1942 P a full step or 5 1/2 as I expect Thanks DB
There is a little mushiness under the third pilar. Might make 5 steps. The 5 1/2 steps was only used by Anacs in the soap box holder era. Thats a good looking WT Nickel.
5 steps. If the obverse looks as good as the reverse use it, nice coin. Good luck with the others, they are out there!
Only minted from Oct 8, 1942 until the end of the year. Still managed to put out 57 million. You’ve got a nice one. Keep counting grand kids and don’t worry about the steps on Jeffs How you gonna keep little fingerprints off them in a Whitman?
It was tried but not accepted by the coin community or other TPG's. And frankly they were a bit rough. This one would definitely be attributed as a 6fs at NGC. I have seen nickel specialists at coin shows still use the attributions on the better date raw coins.
The Whitman Search and save has double mylar sleeves. The Sheild w and w/o rays and Liberty w and without cents were hard to get so I broke out 4 of my best! Lol Up to 9 on the grand kids! they're killing my stashes!
