Last month, a packaged Cheerios dollar and cent went up for bid on eBay and was the topic of discussion (on this site). Several of the members felt the coin's seal may have been broken. I contacted the seller and she said it was intact but she removed the coin from auction. Last week, she relisted the coin and today it sold for an impressive $6,101. It is a 2000 business strike (not a 1999 prototype) as is indicated by the lack of flaws on the obverse. There were four bidders, I bid an opening bid of $5000. If you bought this, I suggest you keep it in the original package and not send it to be graded. Being a 2000 business strike, it likely will not grade higher than 66. Further, Capt. Henway told me these dollars are now more rare (and valuable) in the original packages. Can you see the difference?
