I'm not sure if this is paint or nail polish, but I need to get it off. Any recommendations on what to use ? Dave
If it's paint or nail polish, acetone should make it like it was never there with no other harm to the coin.
It could be NT.. A 4 year old girl might "naturally" paint it with nail polish. LOL But yeah, acetone and done.
Way back in the early 60s when I was a kid, a friend had a cigarette machine route (man that sounds old), where he would deliver cigs and change to bars, taverns, etc that had cig machines. Often he would show me quarters "painted" red and explain that owners of jukeboxes would drop a few of these in to prime the pump, get people to playing them etc. The red coins would be easily spotted by the guys emptying the coin box on the jukebox and given back to the house for reuse. They were obviously spotted easily with the red finger nail polish. How some got over to the cig machines is anyone's guess. Of course cigs were about 35 cents so maybe the hired help would take a "house red" or two and buy cigs. - To the point of this 50 cent coin being read, half-dollars weren't used in the cig or juke boxes to my knowledge so maybe it is a 4 year girl painting them.
According to GoodStuffNowLLC they have sold units which accept half dollars. Growing up I never had 50 cents to put in one.
