I will most definitely seek you both out, and will already know where Paddy is since I'm riding up with him. Sounds like you won't be hard to find, Kurt. And Seattlite86, if you run into someone with a stash of Catherine the Great 5 Kopecks, let me know.
Maybe I'm nuts, maybe it's from needing to wear their shirts at ANA shows because I work for them, but I regularly wear coin club or old coin show shirts to shows. I'm not that concerned with robbery (I do own a PA CCP and helped write our "stand your ground" law), and I usually shop shows for lower cost esoteric material anyway.
'Tsokay. I'll need to hang a hard right down Emmitsburg Pike anyway after I take the hill(s?). I was working on trying to add Friday, but it's not gonna fly. I have a committee meeting to prepare for which goes on next week, and the bill and amendment count is rising. The best I may do is take a hotel room nearby on Friday night rather than start a wee hours trek on Saturday morning. But then again, I like US30 a lot more the earlier I'm on it.
You'll notice Paddy, because when a dealer sees him walking towards their table, they will promptly grab their tray of nickels and hide them under something, until he passes
I drive to York fairly often. Anyone know how long I'm looking at from there to G-burg? It's been a while.
40 miles on US30 to US15. The venue is south of G-town and you'll be bypassing the town itself on 15. Probably better to pass the venue and exit 15 on Business 15 North (Steinwehr Avenue); the exit before that leaves you on multiple side streets to get there. The Eisenhower Hotel is exactly 2 miles north of the exit on your right. Figure an hour.
Oh, man, if you're all going to be at Gettysburg I really want to make it -- but if I head up to see Dad in the hospital (in Frederick), I really kind of need to spend most of my time with Dad. Not sure if the trip will come together anyhow, as my wife's laid up with a twisted ankle and the car isn't at its best. We'll see. 300-odd miles from here to Frederick, but only 45 min from Frederick to Gettysburg...
Unlike many Lancaster County residents, I am unaffected by the "force field" that keeps them from crossing the Susquehanna to the west, and the PA turnpike to the north for going to coin events. I guess it's because I was born and live, barely, outside the "bubble."
Quick question... Where is the best place to park cheaply for the Battlefield Coin Show in Gettysburg, PA?
Well today was fun! I managed to score 5 H-10 I needed some with varieties , a sweet 84 CC/CC Morgan , a roll of 1955 s Roosevelt dimes never opened in the original wrap . Guys you're going Love this show! Film before 11
I also had the pleasure of seeing Jerry and Doug up at the show. And got to see in hand what they scored! Jerry that buffalo was pretty cool . And just wait till Doug posts.
One of the disadvantages to being a committed non-driver is that in order to travel the 140 miles to Gettysburg, my day starts at 0500 - cutting it close - and involves going 100 miles south before turning north again.
It seemed to be well attended early on Friday...always good to see Paddy and nice to meet you Doug. Looked at a nice '13S Ty2 Buffalo 63 @ $1,150 that I didn't pull the trigger on. Any comments on the price??
