How is it? I almost won a AV Scudo d'oro from Pisa 1534.

I have only just ordered it from Italy, so it is unlikely to arrive before Monday, but the 3rd edition of the 100 Greatest Ancient Coins has arrived and it is a good book.

The Pembroke collection, published in 1746. The Earl of Pembroke died in 1733. 100 copies were originally printed, but many were cut up for the plates to accompany the coins when the collection was sold in 1848.

    Beautifull book!
Here are three of mine. I would love to see a full clour plate book on Mughal gold. Imagine the AV 1000 Mohurs weighs 35 pounds. Then there are 500/ 200/100/ 50M. Even the small 5 M weighs 56g.= 15Dukaten. IMG_1796.JPG IMG_1795.JPG IMG_1794.JPG

Agreed! The problem I have is with very old references that are 95% text with just a smattering of images. Really gives me a headache trying to identify issues that have minor differences.

I much prefer physical books as well, I never use PDFs unless I can't find the physical book in new condition.

I have browsed the PDF versions of the Spanish books and they are good (too bad I can't seem to find the physical versions for sale anywhere), I probably found around 10 coins I like in them, but of course 9 of them don't seem to be for sale anywhere and the one that is isn't in anywhere near acceptable condition.

I bought two from Tauler & Fau (Medieval gold coins)& (European States under Spanish Rule/ gold)
Maybe you should e-mail them to see if they have copies left.

The book is okay, but I didn't find any coin that I would like to buy in it.

Pisa coinage is poorly struck and hardly never see MS quality/ as most Italian hammered. However they are very rare/ low mintage/ few exs in collection.
The Spanish Florentine imitation coinage is terrible. Most are poorly struck/ heavily worn from circulation.
