I also won another lot of 4000 state quarters for $950.
Most were in original bank rolls and some assorted, gold plated sets. Silver sets, etc.
I got 5% back with my discover card.
I sold half the rolls for $13 a roll to a collector along with the random sets.
Nothing like trading dollars for a small come up :D
I wish that seller was still around, I made a killing with just the credit card rewards.

Ebay? I doubt it. Just because individuals place bids doesn't necessarily mean they met the reserve or even won them. Shill bidding as well plays a part. Just like, remember the Beanie Baby craze of the late 90's? Individuals were driving clear across the county just to pay for those things at various stores. Go on ebay now and an entire lot of them with a starting bid of maybe $5.00 isn't going anywhere.

I just did an ebay search for bicentennial quarter lots. A gazillion lot listings with the "buy it now" plus a number of bid listings with 0 bids.

    Here's 4 of them for........$1,000

1776-1976 Bicentennial Washington Quarter Dollar (Lot Of 4) | eBay

    At least it's "Free Shipping"

Check the sold listings for bicentennial quarter lot
There are still a few people paying 2x.
    Another example.

Here's a little factoid that I plucked from the internet:

The bicentennial quarters were minted at three different locations in different mintages: Philadelphia (809,784,016 coins), Denver (860,118,839 coins), and San Francisco (11,000,000 uncirculated 40% silver coins, 7,059,099 proof clad coins, and 4 million proof 40% silver coins).

Reminds me of that infamous saying: "There's a sucker born every minute".

And in most cases, the sucker is someone who thinks they are getting something for nothing, but is the actual victim, reference the great name brand leather jacket scams. Greed on the buyer's part is what makes scams like this so successful.

Leather jacket scammer in the area (please don’t fall for it like I did!) DO NOT TRUST “Marco Grimaldi” : r/kansascity (reddit.com)

Actually you're correct. He seemed relatively peaceful and did much to heal the divisions that existed after the Civil War. I was thinking perhaps of his brother: James II who started in effect a 2nd Civil War in 1688 leading to his removal from the throne and the Protestant restoration of William III.

"he [James II] reissued his Declaration of Indulgence on April 27, 1688, and on May 4 ordered it to be read in the churches."
James II did not seem to possess the concilatory skills of Charles II.

Stuffed animal collectors you could say are a Special Breed :p
As for the quarters, I was just pointing out there are still some buyers over face value.
    Same goes for Ike dollars.
Well back on topic... I think I have a coin with Charles head on it.

Those don't appear to be completed auctions. You need to search completed auctions.
EDIT: maybe they are. Usually when I search completed auctions they show in green (sold) and red (unsold) but you did mention they were sold auctions.

Terrible. Read the print on that first auction. They show a mountain load of quarters and then comes the print "10 coin lot for $10.00. What a rip off!

I don't think the royals have ever been in the habit of airing their "human frailties" in detail.

I was about 10 years old when Chuck & Die got married. My teacher in grade school at the time stayed up all night watching/recording it on her VCR and then brought it to school to show in class. It seems, from memory, that it took us a whole week to watch the entire thing. To a 10 year old, it was the most boring thing we had to sit through in school. I'll never forget it and most likely the root cause of why, to this day, I don't have an inkling of care about any of them. That was total and complete torture to sit through that every day. I absolutely hated the teacher for doing that to us as well. Perhaps that's why another kid in the class started loving "The Wall" album at the same time, primarily for "Hey Teacher......Leave those kids alone!!!!".

Researching it, they got married during summer. So, this teacher brought it in months after it was actually done.

I feel that our founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves if they knew the extent of which our US public is interested in and follows the royal family that our forefathers fought and gave their lives to be free from.
So I agree with your statement.

That thought has absolutely crossed my mind, as well. The US is so heavily influenced by the British now, yet it's who we wanted to get away from in the very beginning (long live the Boston Tea Party). The majority of their famous entertainers immigrate to the US with a narrative / agenda to make changes to this country to their liking. It's basically as though they've come to take America back as their own property, but this time doing so without even firing a single shot. Brit Box hoohaa.

The only things "British" I loved as a kid were James Bond movies, The Beatles, and the Benny Hill show.

I don't mind the TV shows - my wife and I have watched all the Great British Bake-off episodes. And they have the best punk bands.
I also find it strange that we closely follow the British monarchy but not others. Guess it's because they speak English. Charles III coronation was broadcast all over network TV in the US, but when Frederik X took over in Denmark last month, there was barely a mention in the news.

Charles I was beheaded, but his son, Charles II knew how to avoid such problems. He didn’t tangle with Parliament and enjoyed to prestige of wearing the crown. Charles II’s main fault was that he never fathered any children with the queen although he did have at 16 illegitimate children with his many mistresses.

That resulted in his brother, James II, becoming the next king. James wanted to bring England back into the Catholic fold. That did not set well, and he was deposed in a bloodless coup. His replacements were William and Mary. When Mary died, William III ruled alone.

William IV, “the sailor king,” ruled in the 1830’s. His replacement was Victoria. The next probable king will be William V.

I bought a 2023 Australia Dollar a few weeks before the diagnosis was announced. Just have to wait for it to get here. Yesterday I did gp on a shopping spree on Flea Bay bought the 2024 Canada Dime and Quarter and 2023 coin set.

Yes, sadly a mint state crown of William IV (slabbed 65 I believe) was an item I didn't bid on on the old site Teletrades. It sold for a very affordable price but is a rarity today. I don't really collect British as I don't have the resources to buy many things today. I just apparently bought a new domain name which cost me more than I'd like to spend...

After you search sold or completed listing it has green.
If you click on the sold listing it goes to the ended page, there is doesn't show the green or what it actually sold for if it was an offer taken.
