1803 large cent

    You are correct, it is a S-258. The S-258 and the S-259 are extremely similar because they both use the same reverse die, one of the easiest ways to tell them apart is to look at the date. If the "8" in 1803 is leaning right its a S-258, if it is leaning left its the much rarer S-259.
    Now for the grading, your example would likely get a problem free VG-8 at a TPG. It appears to have choice surfaces aside from some trivial marks, my EAC grade would be VG-7.

    VG-7 is an EAC grade that the certification companies don’t use.
