I posted a 1962 dime that weighted 2.27, and asked if this a normal weight, the one reply I got say "yes" For some reason this does not sound right to me? I think a 1962 dime is sliver and suppose to weight 2.5 g. isn't it? and why does my dime is 2.27 g?
Pre 1965 - It is silver. I think the weight is within weight tolerance. There is no significant issue for you to be concerned or confused about. Wear could be another factor but I can't see your Dime.
Each denomination has an average weight, a plus weight and a minus weight. The difference it called Tolerance and it’s well within tolerance. Some coins will be slightly over the weight tolerance and some Coins will be slightly under the weight tolerance. That doesn’t mean it adds value and it doesn’t mean it’s an error. It just means it’s slightly out of weight tolerance.

Sorry about not posting pictures, I lost all my files and I can't remember what coins I've posted so bare with me. The weight of this 1962 d dime is 2.17 I just weight it now. Plus others to make sure weight was correct. For some reason I thought sliver dimes suppose to have a solid sliver rim not a copper and nickle rim.
Mint marks were on the reverse until 1964. They started putting them on the obverse above the date in 1968.
