No, that is NOT the case, to my recollection, and now re-research, too. All the proof cents from 2009 AND all the satin finish cents from the 2009 mint sets were bronze (which is 95% copper - SAME THING!). The non-satin circulation strikes are all copper plated zinc, and ONLY those.

The rarest type are the satin finish bronze versions from the mint set, all of which number 784,614. The proofs all number just shy of 3 million each. And apart from the reverse DESIGNS all 2009 proof cents are identical in alloy to any other.

A full set of 2009 cents compromises 20 coins; 8 Zincolns (4 designs x 2 mints), 8 Satin finish bronze (same 4 x 2), and four proofs (4 designs PERIOD).

I meant to say that the bronze were only included in the proof sets. There were no bronze in the uncirculated sets, right?

    What were the 'satin' sets?

All the cents in the uncirculated set were ALSO bronze in 2009. Satin was the finish of ALL uncirculated sets from 2005-2010. In 2011 they went back to a normal business brilliant finish.

Amen. Suffice it to say there are a few people who need to pick up a Red Book and read.

In Mega Red 2017, the 2009 cents cover from page 534-544. 11 pages.

Your 2009 proof numbers are WAAAAY off. The mintage of all four proof cents of 2009 is 2,995,615. ... EACH.

The best way to say it is "pick up a Mega Red 2017, turn to page 534, pour a glass of wine [ONE!], read".

I like the Lincoln series. It's just TOO big. For me anyways.

These coins are easy to obtain and in very high grade. That is the antithesis of rare, but I guess that's just how I see it

They are plentiful in the market, apparently more than enough supply to meet demand. You can buy unopened shipping box sets for about $25:

The market value of the mint, clad, and silver sets from 2009 are still at or below the original US mint prices. The 2012 sets are still holding a very nice premium. I really thought the 2009 sets would be winners and bought several of each. Unfortunately, I lot of other folks had the same thought and our dreams became dust.

As it almost always goes. The only ones that usually jump are the ones "nobody" buys extras of. That's WHY it happens.
