My wife is a knitter. She has about as many yarn friends as I have coin friends. We often stop at yarn shops on vacation (the same can be said of coin shops / shows). Because of this, I started a knitting themed coin collection.
Knitting dates back to 300 AD to 1000 AD depending on which source you believe.

This week I received some Bronze needles. They were described as:
    PAKISTAN, BAKTRIAN-GREEK, c. 450-300 BC, kohl applicator
They look enough like knitting needles for me to tell my wife they are for knitting even if they pre-date when knitting originated.
DSCN0283.JPG Ken Dorney, thanks for the lead on these.

The rest of the collection is coins!

Weird. I would have assumed that they were stylus that were used in writing palm leaf manuscripts. For instance, see the following from my collection. Would have never guessed that they were eye application tools. Learn something new everyday...

I hope that sweet Asian chick doesn't have a couple of frisky dogs running around ... the thought of somebody accidentally bumping her arm makes me cringe!!

    SteveX6,
I put the RHPS pic in for you. Watching the movie was the first time I saw a guy wearing eye shadow. I have never been to a midnight showing, but I hear there are plenty of folks in colorful outfits.

Nice piece. How was it advertised? Is the middle pic yours also?
