When sending off ten business strike of a new issued coin, what are the chances of getting a MS-70 PL...? Or, do you think that is VERY political ?
Looking at the coins on APMEX, one can't help but to notice a high relief 2015 at 2K and one at 8K (cost)... Far be it from me to guess and or question the motive, or grading services.
BUT ! Just how much difference could there possibly be between a 70 and a 70PL... Did the stamper wipe the die down and the next coin is PL ?, then all that follow until he wipes it again are just 70's. ?
Must be so so political and I am guessing no one person receives a PL until they have been a customer for some time!
Let's face it, everything is political and grading must be too, along with the money. This has nothing to do with collectors or collecting... It is outside that boundary...

Just looking at a GovMint dot com catalog I got today and they offer MS70 ASE's for $46.40 (PCGS) and $50.85 (NGC). Not sure how many you would have to buy and submit to get an MS70 on your own.

Total hogwash. Prooflike surfaces can be measured.

The first few coins from a new die will be PL and then as microsopic flowlines start to form on the die surfaces the PL fades away.

I frankly don't think there has ever been a MS70 true "business strike" coin ever certified, much less PL. There have been specially handled pieces and some ASE's, but I don't consider ANY ASE a "business strike" any more. They are just produced unlike true "business strikes", by which I mean "struck for circulation".

THe question doesn't so much pertain to if, but more to "where do they go and to whom" You can go to PG site and look up the values. In those are plenty of PL's. I do think it is Irony that signed ones are PL. Thus, very political !
When the mint offers up a coin to be sold, it shouldn't come with a backdoor clause of, you get no chance at a PL because those are saved to put lots of money in the pockets of past designers, etc. They work for the Gov't, get a Gov't paycheck and a fabulous retirement. Why is it that a 2015 MS 70 PL with a signature can be valued at 20K PLUS and the only people holding them are the ones attached to the business.
I know the answer, was just looking for the verification here.

PCGS certified a business strike Lincoln as MS-70. I think it was a 2003. It subsequently developed spots and is no longer a 70.

I just LOVE that story. The snarky insensitive jokes almost write themselves.

I believe that I heard that it developed a carbon spot and is regarded as a 69.

Translation: you have conspiracy theories you are trying to get others to believe.
For someone so sure of a conspiracy or corruption you have asked a lot of very basic questions. There is nothing wrong with people asking basic questions or trying to learn, but for someone so sure of corruption and politics I wouldn't ever expect such beginner questions after all you must have proof of the allegations right?

This is the challenge many collectors face. Finding circulating coinage for such designations. The best I've ever done was yank a 2013 Nickel graded MS 64 for a 6 FS designation. Technically that coin was circulated since I pulled it from a casino cage. I was in back and the cashier had a pile of the most brilliant, lusterous nickels I have ever seen. I only had one nickel on me to exchange for a new one. I didn't even get a chance to look at the coin until after my shift was over. On another occasion I "almost" found a PL 15 NP quarter in change, I think I actually posted it on here asking if ya'll thought it was pl or not. At any rate, in the end I believed it to be too scratched and would warrant a details grade. Not worth sending in.

I've found and had NGC certified about 20 or so MS67 coins from circulation, mostly but not all ATB quarters, and I've SEEN a MS69 in an auction, but the best I EVER expect to run across is a 68.

I've also "shot" (photographically) a MS65PL Kennedy half in Dallas' Dealey Plaza and again from the grassy knoll. That was one of a pair that I had slabbed by NGC.

No Theory of corruption, I know there is, and one can never have proof, just situations they have seen and experienced. That is what I want someone to post. Everything is political and so much more these days than 40 years ago. Could a guy like trump run for president 40 years ago and fool people, Absolutely NOT !
Could a CEO start a company on a dream, get 300M in an IPO and his stock listed on Nasdaq, plus added too over a hundred 401Ks with zero revenue 30 years ago, no, never !
Thus, just wondering how far the coin industry is into it's own money making. I know it is a battle for the poor people, heck, even the latest HBO special on presidential donators shows the mega millionaires complaining that their donations don't over come the Koch brothers, thus, they cant control what they want, the koch brothers do. And that is where we are, and headed deeper into it. The layman has no clue what the real world is doing.
Thanks for the answer on the labels, and all these basic questions, I do not know the answer too or I would not ask. I guess it would be easier to experience the Gold label by buying one, almost did... Now I wont...

Or maybe some the best coins of the 2015 HR releases were set aside for the autograph program. It wouldn't be unprecedented.

In other words facts and proof be dammed you've made up your mind and everyone should listen because you said so.

Is the whole 2015 HR program really this big a deal? Isn't it just a bullion play? I don't know. Not my thing.
