Gas bubble explosion or did somebody mess with it?

The last one...I have no idea but I'm interested for the big reveal. I think the first one is damaged but not a gas bubble explosion. Not sure what caused it. The Jefferson, not full steps. What's the attraction to the Harper's Ferry? Is it the design or is there more to it?

I could be wrong on any and all!

It's a little before your time. Lets see if someone else gets it. :)

Didn't think so on the Jeff, and I just like the reverse design on the quarter. :)

There are several of the recent quarters that I like the reverse on.

I'll be waiting for the reveal.

I think it's an early credit card. Credit token?

I have had keychain fobs that have a similar message. I thought for a minute the quarter reverse was an MC Escher.

When we were teens, we used to make the quick trip from Dickerson Quarry in Maryland to Harpers Ferry because we could buy beer there at 16. I remember seeing the "High Water" signs on the federal armory from the flood of 1889. I can't remember the actual markings, but I do recall that it was over 15'.

I have not seen a charge tag (card) like the one pictured since I was a kid. Very cool.

Right ya are fellows......an old 'charge plate'. My wife found it going through some of my late mother-in-laws things.

    Very kind of you. :)

A&S was a very popular department store back when I was growing up.

I think Frank was at the grand opening back in '65 (1865)........... devil.gif

Frank - How can it be PMD and only be on 1 side of the coin?

I don't know anything about them. Can someone explain how they were used?

Chris - They were the predecessors to credit cards. You kept them on your key ring and used them to charge purchases to a store account.

I vaguely remember these from my youth; the personalized template was put in a machine, the slip placed over the plate, and a bar slid over the slip & plate, embossing the customer's number.

Sometimes, if I remember correctly, the department store kept them on file for the customers' use.

I'm leaning towards PMD, but very interesting.
