Red Book - US Coins 70th Edition

Hi all,
Just picked up the 2017 Official Red Book 70th Edition - A guide book of United States Coins.
What's special is that it's my first ever Red Book that I have ever owned
Hope to learn new things but first I'm going to check out the Error Coins section!

Probably could find the same info in the 65th issue........I do confess that I pick up a current Red Book every few years. Some folks even collect them. Even more folks write about them.......@treshunt

Now for the coup de grace the US red book of coins is printed in China !

 

Shoot.......two 'Paddy's in the same thread.......too much to take. Heck, a Balto and an New Yorker......I think if that mix were combined we'd have a new, I don't know, jet fuel? And I don't think Frank gets residuals from China. He survives on his own standing..........

 

The 70th edition is my first red book, too. I just had to verify that my favorite series, Spanish-American Coinage of the new World, was the first series listed.

actually, it is printed in the United States by Whitman Publishing in Atlanta

 

You misunderstood my post didn't say Frank got residues from China. I stated that the red book was printed in China.
As I have several Whitman books that are printed in China I found that very Ironic as all the fake coins that come from there as well it's a guide book of US Coins.
Besides Frank and I haven't had any fun for a while so just taking a poke at him to wake him up!

 

Maybe Whitman like Buck knives woke up! As Buck had moved it entire production line to China, after loosing many customers due to poor quality they move back to the US of A!

 

be grateful for Whitman. There are very few publishers that print books on coins and coin collecting any more. save for Whitman, who publishes over a dozen new titles every year as well as revisions of older books.

 

Just bought my first copy. Had bought the blue a month ago and hadn't realized there was a difference until someone was kind enough to explain. Nice learning tools.

 

If you think that those are nice tools, buy an old copy, of around the 1960 vintage (It must be pre-1964) and check the prices on certain key and semi-key coins.

50 years of perspective, evolution in pricing and demand at your fingertips...

 

My first red book....1964 I can remember saving up for it.
