The 1964 Morgan- Coin Of The Century lol

 

Okay, now that we see a bit more evidence and get a bit more story, I'm starting to believe the hype.

So apparently the image on the cover of the book is of a die, not actually a coin?

This is like BigFoot and the Loch Ness monster were both confirmed on the same day. Wow!

 

I don't find it hard to believe at all that there could be great rarities like this that were specially made for people with connections that will never see the light of day

 

Why not a 1964 Chain Cent? Wow - that's bizarre.

Now if they find a 1964 SBA I'll really be shocked.

The US Mint should hire me to make some from those galvanos/hubs/dies.
If they were struck over genuine coins, that might allow the Mint to make them without requiring Congressional approval (since they would only be altering coins that were already issued with the same design, and not issuing entirely new coins which requires an act of Congress).

And/or they could make a set in 2021 which includes 2021-dated Morgan & Peace dollars, plus 1964-dated Morgan & Peace Dollars struck from those original dies. They could probably sell 100,000+ of those sets.

 

How about an 1868 large cent instead?

I'm not much for commemoratives or newer stuff, but I'd buy an overstrike made from those dies

Unfortunately, knowledge of their existence is (to me) darn good reason for him not doing so.

 

You suppose they would strike them in silver or mess up like they did this year and mint them in gold.

 

At this point we don't know what actually exists. Reportedly, there are galvanos hubs and master dies, but no working dies or struck coins. I will await more information.

Knowledge of the past existence of 1964-D Peace Dollars was widely-known when I produced my over-strikes in 2010.
