I'm a Sandwich maker turned Hotel Manager/Housekeeper. On Friday I passed my company of 30 years on to two young bucks , Trevis and Jeffery and an old friend in Dallas, Roger.Dalton and his son. (I need a solid introduction to Dallas). Roger is solid , the real thing. So at 30 yrs Old I happened to meet Fred Deluca who had been building a sandwich chain for 20 years and I think they had 400 to 500 open. A deal was made for me to open stores in S.Mississippi, Louisiana and SETexas. Net worth -100,000 and every relative, friend and stranger called me nuts. People eat P0boys down here. Not Subway Sandwiches. About 15 years later the New York Times wrote, " I had killed the poboy South Of I 10.
Yeah blame me lol...... If I had your contact information yesterday you would of gotten a call. A close dealer friend had some really nice 1938 D DD DDS buffalo's . I'm talking really nice!
Interesting story there Hugh I my self have been in the perishable food business for 50 years. Started as a teen working in an Italian bakery, then a major retail food company here, after 35 years there did 8 years at the Irish Dairy board . Now work for a major deli, and meat company in the North east. One thing about the food business ya never go hungry
I knew that. I 'googled' ya a few months back and came up with a Subway franchise. Hats off to you Hugh, as I'd of played chicken. Some amazing fore site and rather large Monongahela's on your part my friend..........
My late mother was a sharp investor in the stock market. One thing she always said "invest in food stocks. No matter what, people will always eat." Didn't get her a job at Goldman Sachs, but she sure made a lot off that philosophy.
Ah, touched by the hands of fate. Gotta love it. Now I want a crawfish poboy though. Being a Californian I have no idea what that is
