Error penny

    New to coin hunting found a 1984 penny with crack all the way around the rim through Liberty and in God we trust can't find any info on it need direction please

    It's not often that you find a perimeter crack like that on Lincoln cents. Nice one!

    I'm not seeing it - a cud is a broken die that includes the rim of a coin causing a "blob" of metal to be raised up on the coin that includes the rim. Here's an example:

    I'm new to this and this site I have a question I have a steel penny but its a 1959 no mint mark is that possible?

    No - probably just a nickle plated copper cent. See if it sticks to a magnet.

    It does when I first got hold of it I had to clean it up. Had to clean first and rust off it googled it and first thing I found was to stick a magnet to it and it sticks

    Well nickle is magnetic - is it weakly attracted to the magnet or does it jump to it like a piece of ferrous metal (iron,steel) would?

    The only magnets I have are my kids ABCs lol so they ain't really worth a crap they nearly stick to my fridge
