List: Most valuable coins

The best defense against conversing with someone, just don't. If someone then continues to try to pry or hassle, let us know. It could be difficulty in phrasing or "sense of humor", and many here might qualify on that, so don't answer. Ignore. Some may just want to have you for a 'buddy'. This! Except it's coins my Grandmothers and mother gave to me when I was very young. These coins are the reason I collect today as a so called adult.

Why all the angst about telling someone on a coin board about your coins when at the same time you are more than willing to post pics of your collection? Or list them in a registry? Or show them off at a show?

To answer the OP this is probably the most valuable coin I own (not the one I paid the most for, though)

you all are taking this way too far... When somebody says something that you think is a stupid question, do the right thing and be polite... I didn't mean anything bad by posting this, even if it may have been taken that way... Just think about that next time you think that posting something ignorant about something that you don't agree with. Yes, I see how this could be taken in the way it apparently has, but come on guys... show some respect.

These two coins are tied for my most valuable in term of monetary value:


Alexander III tetradrachm (Seleucid Kings of Syria)
306-284 BCE
Babylonian Mint


Trajan
Circa 107 CE
Roman Mint

And now my most valuable in terms of personal preference instead of monetary value is this Sassanian coin of king Kavadh I, from his first reign...sometime around 488-496 CE.

Not as valuable as the two on top in term of monetary value, but as a personal preference it is my favorite coin. Just look at that killer portrait, you can't put a price on such pretty styling and wow factor.

You're alright - don't let anybody get you down. It will take you a while to develop a sense of what the CT members mean when they post something. And we all know 116 was a typo, maybe send a Mod a PM and ask them to change that for you.
Just keep posting - even if you get weird replies at least that means they are reading your thread!!

 

No pics, it is in the SDB. It is an ordinary F-VF 1867 2 cent piece that my grandfather received from his brother when he was 6 years old in 1897. His brother had been saving it to spend in town, but my grandfather had lost his pinky finger in a cornshucker accident on the farm and had to go into town to visit the doctor and his older brother gave the coin to him to spend on candy at the store so he would feel better. Instead he held onto the coin, for almost 80 years when he gave it to me when I was a small boy starting to collect coins.

It's monetary worth is pecuniary compared to many coins I have bought and sold over the years - but to have kept a coin that was a gift for 80 years and then to give it to a young grandchild starting to collect coins - priceless. My grandfather also went to a coin shop when I was a kid and bought me an 1841-O half dime that I still have.

Maybe it's not the question rather how it reads. I'm not going to respond seriously to a post like that. This day in age it doesn't take a rocket scientist to find were a post originated from. I want to keep what I have.
Give it time & you'll respond with the same humor as we all did. Yes I started it but come on kid lighten up laugh a little bit.

 

I think it was a simple little jab @Christopher290 , you know how people get carried away, I threw my hat in the ring as well, but it's all in good fun
