I was wondering what the worst coin grading service is... I have heard of some bad ones, but any that just have flat-out failed? Thanks!
I bought a Morgan once on eBay slabbed by USCG. Everyone gave her bad feedback and thought it stood for United States Coast Guard. Way overgraded, mine was MS-66 PL. I don't think so.
Not a chance but I will list a few that are not on my worst list. I would use any of these under the right situation. NGC PCGS ANACS ICG
Thanks! Those are mine also. As I understand it and from what I read they are the four major grading services. I rate them differently though: NGC PCGS ICS EDIT: I can't spell ICG. Give me a break it was typed during a commercial for "naked & Afraid." ANACS
I don't look at it that way. I own a lot of SEGS coins. I'm looking at the coin and the price and not what the holder says. Lots of folks only see the holder and don't bother to see the coin for what it is.
I don't buy much anymore so I just look at the top 2 or 3 slabs. I have too much stuff already. The one SEGS I do have is a VAM. So I'm leaving it in that holder designating the VAM.
This company actually did exist and it would actually qualify for this list of unreliable graders: http://coinauctionshelp.com/ICS_TPGS.html#.V8Ok4fkrLIU Although this part sounds pretty cool and wouldn't be a bad idea for the major companies to use: "We have developed a system which guarantees that no slab graded by ICS could ever be manipulated. With special PVC free sealant, any tampering will turn the edges of the holders blue."
Evidently, you haven't tried to crack many SEGS holders. They're nearly indestructible. I HATE SEGS slabs.
