How long will it last before the price bubble bursts, or will it ever. Then maybe I will get one, kind of financially embarrassed at the moment. Glad a lot of you were able to get in to the mint's site and grab one. Enjoy, it looks like a nice coin.
Maybe I'm being thick-headed. . . Were there earlier pre-sales to certain dealers OR is this listing in anticipation of getting a 70 from NGC. I'm very confused at the moment. (Insert Smiley with bandage on head here 'cause mine isn't working).
Heck Eric. Win some, lose some. The point of it all is to enjoy collecting and (sometimes) make a little money. Don't happen that often for this old sod, but I've had my moments. Missed opportunity here, but I'll survive.........
It's basically just someone assuming they will get at least one 70 of each or they were able to buy enough they know that the laws of numbers should give them at least one of each barring major quality issues.
Graded 70 coins are way over rated in my opinion, I really like the OGP. But that is just me I have already sold all 4 of my coins for a small profit, this will help me purchase that SLQ coming out in September
Ordered 2 of each. Currently "processing" my order. Wanted 2 more of each, but didn't go online until roughly 12:03. Flip 1, hold 1? Decisions, decisions. The "product limit" vs. "mintage limit", which I never thought about, raises a good point and will be factored into my decision.
The mint has already made it pretty clear that there will not be more. Similar to the Truman RP situation
I was going to gift these to my two daughters as an Xmas gift; but with the sets of 4 seeming to go for over $600 now I'm going to list them. I have current Ebay offers to list free and save 50% off FVF so I'm going to list with a high BIN and see what's out there for offers. I'd rather buy the girls something else and potentially get my gold Standing Liberty at essentially no cost flipping these.
I sold 2 of the 4 I bought on eBay for $275. I didn't really pay any attention to the buyer until just now. And it was Penn Metals who purchased the set. I thought this was pretty crazy.
Hmmm seems like they really want to capture a large market share of these medals. I'm pretty sure I seen that they had a standing offer to buy these on Reddit a few days ago.
I've seen a couple clips on YouTube in the last couple days about them paying $25 over mint price per medal if you commited your purchase to them. Needless to say..I'm sure that river has dried up.
I just checked my emails and found out I got two of each mint mark. I ordered under my and my wife's acct. and by the time I got into my business acct. to order they were sold out. I thought I had both Ws until I checked the emails. Orders confirmed so I am just waiting for a shipping confirmation. Whew!!! Can't wait to see them in hand.
I can't say I am all that surprised. I bet we will see a lot of these ebay ones end up graded and on bigger dealer sites
$339-$499 BIN for one of each on ebay, currently. Not really fond of the design, so maybe I'll just sell the 2 sets that I have. Will the aftermarket support these prices 10-20 years from now? Might be better to take the profit and buy a coin or two that have a track record of holding their value, and with a design that I like.
