Hello everyone! I couldn't withstand my own restrictions on not buying more coins for the time being, so I figured I might as well post some of them here. I'll deal with the wrath of the wife another time, but for now... here's a small look at some of today's pickups. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

It is a particularly comfortable couch at least! And while I'm on the S-list here... if I have the chance to buy a CT colonial copper in very poor condition, do you think I should move on it? I've identified it through coinfacts and pictures I took, and it is a 1787 CT 1/2P MB Left, Hercules. It's probably another P-01, but still recognizable through images. I guess if the price is right, I'll have a hard time passing on it, personally.
I would pass. There is better one's for not too much online. I have one that I found in better shape metal detecting. There are better specimen's Non-dug.
It's not a Hercules head. If you are trying to identify using the Red book, bare in mind, they only show a few of the more prominent varieties. In reality there are around 350 different varieties, some differing in only the minutest detail. It is a draped bust left, and quite likely one of the Miller #33 obverses, I say likely because I can't see enough of the punctuation to be sure. The 33 family of obverses are the most numerous in the whole series, there are around 100 varieties using some variety of the 33 obverse. This one may just be too far gone to ID with certainty, but I can give it a try if I get the chance.
Let me just offer this. Copper is the softest metal the mint used. It doesn’t take much effort at all to displace characters on copper coins and I have seen some serious anomalies created from hits and drops during use in regular commerce. When I see an anomaly on a copper coin, I always first default to an odd hit during its life…. Not saying that is what you are seeing with yours, but it is always a likelihood with copper coins.
I wish I would have seen this before because I spent about a half hour trying to figure out which one it actually was! Lol! But thank you for helping!
One thing that makes me feel a little bit more confident is that I did end up at the draped bust left, even if I had to spend more time on researching it than I had hoped. But I absolutely appreciate your assistance with identifying it, and as you alluded to... there's probably still more details about it that I am simply not aware of. Odds are that I won't have much of a chance to try to understand them because this coin is P-01 at best and the bulk of the details are gone.
