I totally hear you. I know it's not a Mint rolled roll. That could mean it's a later in the year 2000 bank wrapped roll with all 2000's. And that could play into the Cheerio search perfectly. Or it could be a later year bank wrapped roll with a number of years in it. That's my conundrum. As of right now the dream of a Cheerio possibility is akin to a winning Powerball ticket, in your possession before the drawing takes place. Based on the lopsided poll results, I will open the roll. I will try to do the reveal sometime late this afternoon, Friday. Stay tuned.....
Now you have me questioning my rolls I was told we'll in the auction listing description for the lot I won, that the rolls were original bank rolls. I assumed that they originated from the mint. I should probably open my rolls up as well, I could use the money for another hobby and they have already depreciated some from when I bought them. Now that I think about it I have that money spent already I have some other miscellaneous dollar coins that I've been sitting on...I'll throw them in the lot to return to the wild. Is it considered peer pressure or sound advice if it's logical and could fund another hobby? Call it organizing and making room thinning out to herd, I had plans and need to do that anyway...need more space for better than dollar coins. I know someone else who has 100's more bank rolls they are sitting on. Where's that Insomnia thread? I should be sleeping @ 1:15 am
Oh, the suspense is killing me! Question, how big is this safe exactly? How do you miss a roll worth $25? I'm worried when I'm missing a few coins.
Everyone should PM Sal a safe picture careful what you wish for a safe collection develops as you collect stuff.
The moment of truth is here. I'm unwrapping the roll as I type this: I'm enthusiastic! I apparently picked up this roll in its inaugural year. Every Sacajawea is a 2000-P. And since it isn't a mint wrapped roll, it is possible the bank rewrapped this roll with a Cheerio in it. I have not looked at any of the reverses yet. Nor have I scoured the obverse for any anomalies. Here's a pic of the unsearched obverses. I'm hoping someone with knowledge of Sacajawea's can tell me what to look for.
I'm far from a knowledgeable Sac person, but I'd say your going to want to look for $25 From the coin counting machine
Well, every coin there shows cartwheeling so, imo, all of them have value above face. Now you want to check the reverse for the “cross-hatch” or diagonal relief on the tail feathers Google “Cheerios Dollar” or look it up in the Red Book to get some pictures of what to look for…Spark edit to add: put them in capsules! (not flips)
Who pays over face for these Sac dollars? I'd like to unload my dollar coins to such a person in bulk.
No Cheerios dollars. No Wounded Eagle dollars. The enders I'd give MS60's. All the others I'd give between MS64 to MS66. With maybe 1 or 2 MS63's. Possibly one as an MS66+ or MS67. The reverse reveal: charley, care to elaborate for me? Not sure what your cryptic message meant.
Hey Spark, thanks for the reply. Here's some examples of my assessment in grading.... MS60 ender: 60 Reverse: MS 64: MS64 reverse: MS66+: MS66+ reverse:
Check out NumisMedia/FMV for values they have for higher grades. The MS65/66/67 range gets into slab justification. @rte …this is what I was talking about. There are plenty of buyers out there for these higher grade beauties…imo…Spark
I did not mean to be cryptic. The pieces I mentioned are pieces I would be interested in examining. The Reverse images you have now posted, are they in the same order? As to why I mentioned the pieces I did, Sacs have a sort of Tell....a coppering Affect (not effect), and the pieces that have this coppering tend to have struck up much sharper and have sparkling toning. That's all. No Bosco Ring mystery intended.
Yes, the reverses are in the same order as the obverses. Do you see enough to support your 'tell'? Need additional pix? LMK
Correct…but…there’s always a chance some ignoramus raided his Dad’s collection and spent it on a candy bar…imo…Spark
