I think I found a 1992 D doubled die. with a magnifier you can see two 2s on the date.Is it a real double die? What could it be worth?
Then why can you see one two over top of the other two and the same with the 9? Oh and sorry I missed d on doubled.
Because it's a common occurance with Copper Plated Zinc Cents that's why. It's called Die Deterioration Doubling Sorry...Not a Doubled Die We see these all the time on Cointalk
Or it's also maybe plating split doubling - have a read!! http://www.lincolncentforum.com/plating-split-doubling-split-line-doubling/
Sorry Mr. Over 4000 posts.. But I have to disagree with you on your attribution. What you showed is caused by another reason. This is simply Die Deterioration Doubling. I'm almost at 4000 posts myself!
And that is why I stated "Or it's also maybe" - the key word being - "maybe". Keep disagreeing with me and you'll be at 4000 in no time at all! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your photo is so blurry that it is impossible to be 100% sure, but I really don't see any hub doubling. Chris
Maybe this information will help you - I want to share these 2 webpages with you http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-raised/ and http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-incuse/
Did you read the links they posted? We all want to find the next big thing or heck in my case anything, but I assure 99.9% of the time you will be given the correct answer.
It is called "incuse die deterioration doubling" Here is a web page that describes it. It is very common on 1992 cents. http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-incuse/
I tried to explain it to him yesterday with the same webpage. Don't think he believes it. Hasn't even provided a better picture like he stated he would
I have found hundreds of Lincoln Cents with that error. Most of them are 1992,s 1990's, and 1989's. When I first started looking for error coins I thought I had struck it rich.
