Inspired by the "Guess the Ruler" thread, I thought it might be interesting to see how hard or easy it would be to recognize each of the 12 Caesars from seeing only each ruler's eyes, nose, and mouth. If this turns out to be too easy, I might try this with a set of denarii showing only each ruler's eyes and nose. Good luck and have fun!
5th from the left in the top row is Tiberius, 1st from the left in the bottom row is Domitian, 3rd from the bottom left is Augustus, 5th from the left on the bottom row is Vespasian. I think recognize a few others, but not with 100% certainty, so I'll pass on those
I'll take a stab at it 1st row: Vitellius, Nero, Domitian, Otho, Tiberius, Vespasian. 2nd row: Titus, Julius Caesar, Augustus, Gaius, Galba, Claudius (pretty sure that's correct-- they are all very distinctive)
I don't want to ruin it and guess all of them; so I'll go with #1. Julius, bottom row, 2nd from left.
You really are the brightest witch of your age. Yes, you got them all. Next time, eyes and nose only!
Thanks, Professor Lupin ... I've put this quiz in an interactive format for those who may be interested. http://www.tifcollection.com/coin-quiz-3 The quiz platform (quizrevolution) has some frustrating limitations regarding component size but hopefully the images are large enough. I'd love to find a (free) quiz app with a match game format but so far I haven't seen any. I'll load IOM's Twelve Caesar Denarius version once I've received confirmation of the correct answers.
