I was wondering if anybody has a link to a website that has a list of what medals were made in the 1800's by the mint. One of my local coin shops has one but I can't recall the exact date to help my search, I am fairly certain it was 1870's or later. It is worn so I am assuming it was used as a pocket piece for a while. I've been searching the last hour on line and I can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm guessing you didn't buy it because the asking price seemed high? I'm not sure how desirable VG-8 pocket piece medals are. The info found online is few & far between although @Paddy54 pointed me to a website once upon a time and I can't even remember the name of it.....maybe he can chime in
Basically yes. He wanted $200 for it. The obverse was still nice, but you could barely make out the writing on the reverse. I thought at first it was a foreign coin. It was a fairly simple design with lots of open space, if I recall correctly it has a lady (liberty?) kneeling looking towards the left.
