I don't think it would qualify as a plate coin as it is not one of the three they display on the page, but coinfacts has a feature where you can see all the images that have been taken of the various coins for that date where it does appear. One grade higher and I bet it would have been a plate coin as their three are all 69s. They probably should consider swapping one of those for that one though imo

There has to be an ART to toning, just no one taking the time to test all the possibilities... I cant imagine that the Mint puts out 500,000 pieces of gold and only 50 tone because of the metal... It has to be the packaging, the air, or lack there of.... Heat, Cold, etc... Certain wood dresser, etc...
A good metallurgist and planning can do it... I am game to investing in such a search...

I have a few Indians sandwiched in between different strips of leather to test that theory.... so far no color.

Are they not usually in those cheap cardboard holders with plastic... like the ones he has listed here... Try that with something that you have a lot of and put in several different places...
Thanks for always replying... to outsiders...

Sad update on these. They were scanned arriving in Louisville on the 3rd, and nothing since. I REALLY hope these 2 coins are not gone for good, but it isn't looking good so far :(

Did you call the PO? A little fire under their butt never hurt.

Yeah. It seems to have gotten to your regional facility and hasn't left or at least wasn't scanned out. Out of all the packages I send, and I send alot, I've never lost a one knock on wood. Let's hope it's just stuck behind a conveyor belt or something J.

If it gets lost at a specific PO calling can help, but there isn't really anyone I can call at a sorting facility. I will be calling everyone I can Monday though. This almost makes me feel sick . Ugh.

Go to your local post office and just have them put a trace on it to locate it. Should be quicker than waiting on the phone

No news yet. I have been on and off the phone with a bunch of PO workers, but nothing. :(

It could be a scam. Would be easy to do if you put the effort into it, especially if you know a PO employee...
I shipped thousands (literally) of LED lights via Post Office back in 06 - 12 and never once lost a package.
Did lose 3K worth of Amber stickers, but that fell on the sending corp. not me, and that was thru Fed Ex...Lost in Memphis forever...
Were they Insured ? Do you know ? What is the sender saying ?

@jwitten is the sender. He was sending them to me to piggyback on my pcgs submission and they went from his local PO to his regional sortinging facility and never left. We were hoping it just wasn't scanned and still on the way but its now a full week after the scheduled delivery date and still no sign of it. Now it seems the only hope is that it fell behind a shelf or conveyor belt or something at the sort facility. I also ship alot, about 50 +/- packages a month for the past 2yrs, and have yet to have one get lost like this.
