My computer started going crazy. Windows opening and closing. Keyboard typing bizarre characters... I went into a panic and called my IT people convinced that I had a virus..... He immediately came (for a sizable fee)... Looked at my laptop and moved the coins off my little finger mouse pad thing..... Yeah, that was the problem..... Do not put coins on your laptop mouse pad.... This was one expensive and very dumb lesson!

I had the same problem, but mine was caused by my cat's.

FYI if you use a different mouse and never use the finger pad you can turn it off. I forget how I did it but I stumbled on the settings once. If you Googled it I'm sure you'd find it. I don't use it and it just causes problems when it's on.

When I was still working, among other duties, I managed a group of software coders who also helped our Ops people when they had problems with our real-time control systems. This group had an acronym for your problem: PBCAK meaning "Problem between chair and keyboard". Very snarky and pretty typical of these workers who thought themselves superior to everyone. The other group that had responsibility for helpng with desktop PC problems were just as snobbish and of course the two groups didn't get along.

Sorry to hear about your problem but happy it was an easy fix.

Put a piece of cardboard over the entire unused keyboard! That’ll fix ‘er. :cigar:

Duh? Reminds me of a neighbor who spilled hot chocolate on her keyboard, washed it with a toothbrush under running warm water. She said she used her hair dryer to dry it. Called me in a panic, I suggested she just go buy a new one. She did.
    Problem solved.

A few other "mishaps" around my house:
    1. apricot preserves (fell off the toast granddaughter was eating)
    2. donut sprinkles, from chocolate sprinkle donut
    3. ketchup from hamburger dropped on keyboard
    4. ice cream with chocolate coating
    5. and, a little salt or sugar or whatever.
    6. worst has to be coffee with flavored creamer and sugar; just bought a new one.
    :banghead: :woot: :(

I've lost too many laptops to my cats knocking water glasses onto them... :/

My cats sit like yours @RonSanderson - sometimes they lock the keyboard/mouse and nothing works. I finally figured out how to fix it lol

Almost as bad as the PC "cup holders" a.k.a optical drives.

YES, mine do the same thing. I don't know if it's the warm glow of the screen, the warmth of the computer battery, or "your not paying attention to me, give me attention!!!"

Sometimes I had to revert to using paper when my keyboard was otherwise occupied.

By the way, the two photos are the same cat, but 11 1/2 years apart.
