1987-D RPM or zinc bubble?

    I agree. I couldn’t tell from the OP’s photo, the lighting is mediocre. So I waited to see what other members thought, not being an RPM expert.

    A good close-up would have put quit to the question…imo…Spark

    That looks like a repunched mark to me. 006 is the closest match, but this looks to be a stronger one. These have plating issues, however don't get fooled by that knee-jerk reaction. Hang onto this one.

    Yes, I think that's right, I wasn't looking closely enough at that 006 on coppercoins, I agree, that's split plating on that one just to the right. The undermark on the 006 appears at the top, not on that side. This one, though, looks like a real undermark on that side where the split plating on the 006 is. I think this is a new one.

    I think that what you are describing is not raised on the coin. The look is a figment of the imagination.
