When I contracted in Egypt, we crossed the Suez to and from work on a daily basis; I was traveling down memory lane when I purchased the below described coin.

    It is PCGS MS66 AH1432 - 2011 Egypt Suez Canal. PCGS 902138. Pop 1. Mintage 25.

My recent research indicates this low mintage item may have been a test run for specimens of the 2015 Suez Canal Obverse.

Apparently a 2011 King Tut Reverse die was used.

It is very unlikely this is an error as I have this one and just ordered two more from a well known overseas dealer. He is calling them error coins.

Any clarification or comments are welcomed.

No one cares, but I returned the coin to PCGS and they re-slabbed it as a mule at no cost. Kuddos to PCGS for their communication and action on properly labeling this coin.

That was nice of pcgs to do. Interesting that one dealer has so many of the mule.

These are most assuredly made for the collector market by underpaid mint workers. Way too many Egyptian errors in the marketplace for them to be naturally made.

There are lots of mules, double obverses/reverses, off metals, etc. Many can be purchased fairly inexpensively.

Seems like security is a little lax. Where is the Egyptian mint located?
