Thanks for responding and going to bat for me. I received the coin in the mail yesterday and am very pleased with it. It fits well with the rest of my set.

Is it possible that someone took the cert. number and made a fake slab and label? I'm thinking that the TPGs would kill the cert. number until they could figure out who has the real coin and slab.
Just a guess on my part.

I hope that's not the case here. It would definitely make things more difficult as more fakes hit the market.

There she blows! Hopefully, the issue I'm having with this coin is an anomaly. As @charlie mentioned, it could the coin was sent to CACG for crossover to a higher grade but didn't pass muster and the cert number inadvertently retired.

Why don't you email that link to PCGS and ask them what happened? Or put it in their coin forum and see what they tell you? You shouldn't have to guess when it had that number on it and it's their database. DLRC trusted PCGS when they sold it to you and it wouldn't have been marketable had they checked it out, like NGC did. PCGS has the problem, and it's one of confidence in their premium slabs. I wouldn't wait around for some answer to drop in my lap. I'd send them that link. And if they sit on it, copy and paste this question to their coin forum.

Post a link if you start a thread on CU.

I have an update to share. I received an email from PCGS indicating that they are looking into the issue. Considering the fact that I received this email on a Sunday afternoon tells me that it won't be long until this is resolved. I'll post another update when I hear more.

Here's the latest update. I just received a cryptic email from PCGS customer care which I interpret as the certification number getting reactivated within the next 48 hours. Hopefully, this will be the end of that. I'll be interested in finding out if the CAC database is updated as well since it does have a green bean.

I emailed Curt again this morning and he forwarded me to someone else. Hopefully this got things moving.

Hi wx. Just want to interject that we would *never "reject" a stickered coin for crossover in a way you're suggesting. In the rare instance that a stickered coin came into CACG for crossover (Legacy or not) and there was some sort of issue with it the owner would promptly get a call from John Albanese.

I just checked the PCGS certification tool and the coin shows up now in their database. Thanks everyone for your comments and @C-B-D for your help.

 Something I :troll: could never understand: Anytime a person has a problem with PCGS and they don't respond, they should POST (this OP) ON THEIR SITE! They will take care of it very quickly. That's why I would not ask NGC about a problem with PCGS!

I think you know, but might be being slightly diplomatic.

You have experienced both of the mentioned sites. You have also experienced the... being diplomatic here...."reluctance" and "animosity" to such criticisms, deserved or not. The attitude is similar to "no soup for you".

I wish that wasn't the case but unfortunately it most likely was. I'm sure that DLRC had a lot to do with getting things done. If I had purchased this coin from my LCS or Ebay then this may have never been resolved. I'm not the type that airs my problems publicly but thought that posting this issue on CT would find the right people who would/could help me.

Hmmm. I am not a member there...
I would have missed the conversation.
    You know what earks me?
A driver in the fast lane that just blocks traffic. Add in some wintry weather and you just wonder why someone wants to just drive side by side. I mean do they really want to get caught up in someone else's mistake.
Or, do they just say "If I screw up" I want to take as many folks out with me as possible.
