I rewrote that entry a lot to keep it from being too wordy. I should have mentioned as I did in my earlier rewrites that my definition of complete would exclude certain coins either because of rarity or expense. You just pointed out two of them, I do have all of the other classic gold commemoratives. Other examples of coins that I will not have in my "complete" sets are a Four Dollar Stella for the gold type set, and gold, half cent, and large cent examples for the pattern set. My US Type set is missing six coins: a 1793 half cent, a Chain Cent, the Half Disme, the 1796 Quarter and Half Dollars, and a Gobrecht Dollar. All of those coins plus examples of Capped Bust and Draped Bust gold coins are on my "if I won the lottery or if I could work as hard as panzerman list." The reference to you is a compliment. I worked hard as a youngster, but old age has caught up with me. The days of 54 second quarter miles and five minute miles are long gone.

 

Thankfully my job is easy/ just basically walking/ 95+ hours a week. I could never work those hrs in construction/ or other hard professions. Talking lotteries/ I have NEVER won anything/ no lucky charms in my pocket I always laugh when the media talks about winning the powerball lottery/ once over 1 B US$. They state/ it would take you 100 lifespans to spend that amt. How wrong they are.....I could spend $1B in ONE year easily/ on rare coins! Lots of MS 100/ 50/ 40/ 25 Dukaten pieces/ Roman aurei...... Heaven on Earth.

 

Anything British from Celtic to the present day including Roman struck in Britain or any other coins that circulated but trying not to duplicate designs. This is not entirely possible to accomplish because some designs have more than one criteria.

The collecting criteria are an example of all denominations struck including patterns, a coin of each person in whose name they were struck including the episcopal issues, an example of each attributed engravers' handiwork, an example from every mint, an example in each metal employed, an example of each of the privy marks used including overmarks and last but not least, anything I've left out such as errors etc, or a few that are duplicated designs, but just too nice to sell - such as some of the Soho patterns.

Happily, I haven't a chance of completion, so can collect ad infinitum or until I get bored.

 

I focus on my world silver crown type set. Basically coins 30mm and larger.

Gold coins over 100 years old from countries that are of the most historical interest to me, the only planned exception to this will be if I manage to find a 5th century BCE Athenian silver tetradrachm in really top condition, so far my collection consists of:

You know I love any German States thalers or larger. If I could afford to, I would focus on multiples but, well I haven't hit the lottery yet.

 

Yes/ multiple Thalers are nice. Imagine how beautifull that 10 Thaler in last Künker auction would look if they had put it in a sealed plastic capsule in 1587. Nothing nicer then silver with no tone/ oxidation. I feel the same about AV multiples Dukaten. They go upto 105 Zecchini/ 100 Dukaten/ 100 Escudos. Ah to be rich!
