I have my Ancients, all 75 of them, in 2x2 and in an album binder. It is getting heavy and hard to pull the bigger coins out of the plastic page. I have to find a better way………….Help Rich,,,,Mammothtooth
Maybe you can try those 2x2 coin flip boxes like these nice Lighthouse boxes with Intercept technology inside, https://www.lighthouse.us/intercept-box-q30-for-quadrum.html https://www.lighthouse.us/intercept-box-q100-for-quadrum.html You will probably only need the shorter one as you only have 75 coins in 2x2s right now.
I actually think I have one of those binders in Navy/Blue that I never ended up using along with the pages. Maybe I can sell it at a discount!
I have 200+ in one binder. I need to reorganize for sure. But, if you put a bulkier coin (any coin) in a 2x2 clear flip, the kind that folds over, coin in one pocket and the label in the other. Don't fold them. Slide the pocket with the coin into the pocket of the album page. Leave the label part sticking out. You can now easily see both sides of the coin and the description. And, you can use the label flap as a pull to get the coin out when you need too.
@Mammothtooth I guess you've probably also considered coin trays and coin cases. All of my coins, except for my Lincoln cent collection, and some coins about which I don't care, are in Abafil velvet coin trays and Abafil coin cases.
Airtites and airtite cases are always a possibility. I've seen a real sharp 4 tray box (each tray holding up to 16 coins/airtites) but I see that as much for display as storage.. I just use airtites though stored in a nicer wood box rather then the plastic case I usually get empty airtites in... while It won't solve the weight issue, they make lots of real nice airtite display cases but I'm a cheap sob
I definitely do NOT recommend doing it like me. (Well, I recommend the way I do it in the very bottom video clip.) But for anything that doesn't have some sort of provenance or kept in a "set" of some kind (e.g., my favorite coins which are, if you can believe it, my beloved Constantius II "Fallen Horsemen"), I'm not organized AT ALL. Well, my photos and paperwork and notes files are organized. Not so much the physical coins. Most of these actually live in the safety deposit boxes, but when at home... I like tubs... Trays Some other trays A bunch of these trays (just "flocks" really): Stuff like this: Okay, more pictures not really needed, you can imagine: Drawers... Shelves... Bigger tubs... Safety deposit boxes... Stuff like this:
I like the tray concept, red and black…..The air titles are good too. Coins of different sizes in airtites seem difficult to do. Thanks guys…
As I am cleaning ancients I first identify what I think the coin is. Then I print a representative coin and description on an MS Word document. I attached the pending coin to the sheet, put it in a sheet protector and into a working album. Now as I continue with the coin I have all my info readily available.
All of these storage and displays are great, thanks for showing them. Any trays for sell contact me. Rich
