Sent some coins to CBD to be sent to CAC and PCGS, he told me what his opinion is, what do you think? NGC XF45 - WB-104- (Not on label)- Haven't photographed this coin in at least a year so excuse the poor image. This one is heading to PCGS raw..... What do you think it'll grade? PCGS Crossovers.... Will they cross? If yes, same grade or better? (min same grade was selected) Old White ANACS AU58
Not in full focus, but the color is more in hand like, I'm guessing that's why I never put the label on that pic.
I think they will all cross. Now for grades - well the only one I might disagree with(but no half dime expert) is the ANACs XF-45. I though XF-40, but what do I know. As for the coin that is raw - too much glare in the picture to get a feel for the coin itself. Nice batch of coins no matter what grades they get at PCGS.
57 fe and 2 cent yes cross and cac 77cc cross no cac 1840 half yes to both 38 half dime I think is a 63 37 no stars half dime au details cleaning 37 dime will not cross xf details questionable color 38 dime will cross and may cac. I can't tell if it's been dipped from the images Second 38 dime will cross and again may cac not sure if old retoned dip
sorry for the confusion, I should have wrote it better. The two ANACS coins are going for cross over and the 37 H10C to PCGS The other coins that are in NGC holders are going to CAC to try and get stickered but not going to PCGS for crossover... The 38 dimes are the same coin, one was washed out.... Hope that clears it up.
Based off the pictures for the CAC I lean no. No Yes Yes No For the cross overs Cross at grade unless they don't like the toning Cross at grade Not sure what to think of the raw one from the picture being so washed out. Am guess it was AU details hoping for a straight grade this time?
Ok for cac Fe yes 2 cent yes 77-cc no 1840 half yes 1838 half dime no 37 no stars raw au details cleaning 37 no stars Anacs doesn't cross they don't like the color and surfaces 38 dime crosses at grade
NGC called that 37 stained. I soaked it in acetone and a little of that crust lifted off. I think they'll grade it at PCGS MS62.
Well finally after what seems like a lifetime PCGS has finally finished my order. My CAC's were done awhile ago, but now I can post this as a whole. CAC Only the 1864 2 Cent failed to CAC. Crossover- The 1837 Dime failed to Cross, the 1838 Dime crosses the same. Raw- The 1837 H10C was a former NGC UNC Details, Stained, came back from PCGS AU55. I'll upload pictures when I have them all back in hand.
That shade of blue is highly suspect. I am not at all surprised it didn't CAC. Did they say why? Do you have better pictures of this one? I'm really torn about how I feel on this one.
I never understand why the need to cross from NGC to PCGS. ANA, SEGS or others, maybe I see it. NGC's rep in reality is about equal to PCGS
is the delta significant between PCGS and NGC, or is it really noise level? Example: if I have 1921 Standing Liberty Quarter in VF20, on a market perspective what is it worth in a NGC holder versus a PCGS holder?
A common numismatic myth. Phrased more appropriately: For some series, in some conditions, PCGS may bring more than NGC. For other series, NGC may bring more than PCGS. Examine the data for yourself, and decide what you think: http://coins.ha.com/c/search-result...1+313+64&Ntt=1921&ic4=Refine-CoinGrade-102615
PCGS gave no reason for not crossing. Here's the only other pictures I have in my phone of the 37 h10c. Cbd soaked it after this pic to get some of the gunk off. I'll check to see if I have additional pictures of my computer. I'm sure I do. NGC called it a problem coin, I didn't think it was bad enough to detail so I tried PCGS and got a clean grade. It's all one big game they have us playing. I cross from anacs to PCGS because NGC doesn't cross anacs and I like to see the entire coin. That's also the reason I hate the old NGC slabs. I like seeing the rims. It's also easier to sell coins in PCGS or NGC slabs.
I agree with you that it is a myth, but enough people believe the myth that it almost borders on being a fact. I have run into multiple dealers at coin shows that refuse to buy NGC coins claiming they aren't close to PCGS. It's unfortunate that some professionals help spread the myth.
Based on the data you presented here for this series and date, it looks like a coin toss and completely independent of slab which one will bring in SLIGHTLY more =P.
The biggest difference are generally in the upper ends of grading, not so much in the VF range usually. April 22nd Two MS 64 FHs sold on the same day. One was NGC one was PCGS neither was stickered by CAC and the PCGS one sold for over 1k more. From the Pictures the PCGS one does look nicer but that's just one example of where you see the price differences. There are certainly a lot of nice coins in NGC holders, but there are a lot of examples of price differences like that with more expensive coins
