Please explain this error

    Hey Folks, I'm not sure what this is but I figured someone out there could help me. Something is wrong with the edge and rim. Half of it looks like it is kind of normal but it looks like it gets smaller as I look around the edge. I know it's not anything too special but it stood out to me and I'd like to know more. I hope the photos help explain. Pay attention to the rim by the date.

    OK, it looks like it may have been encased for a spell. And now it's unencased. :)

    If I understand what you are asking it's just could be a slight tapered Planchet. That's when the Blank was punched out near the very edge of the sheet which could taper, or get slimmer at the end.

    It could also just be a normal edge. Take a hand full of cents and examine the edges. You will probably find a lot of them were the width of the edge varies as you go around the coin.

    I find those frequently. I don't know why they taper.
