Same to you Green, Although I don't think you would enjoy seeing me at the present. I have been in & out of Hospital's & Half way nursing homes for the past year before finally getting back home. Doctors and Nurses come to me now instead of me to them.
I have 2 Peace dollars that were professionally graded but not slabbed. A 1927 P MS 61 and a 1928 P MS 63.
For several years I cracked out every slabbed coin I bought. I simply preferred them that way. (Actually, I still do, but it is next to impossible to find coins that I want which aren't slabbed today.) This is probably the first one I bought which is still in its coffin.
Here’s my 2 peace dollars worth mentioning. Bought the 21 raw about 30 years ago. Sent it in on basically my first pcgs submission about 12 years ago or so. I thought it au. Was surprised that it came back 63. I still don’t see it. I think a 58 myself. The other I like the color on. Ngc 64 cac
Those spots are the only thing that holds the coin back from MS. I wonder if they were there when it was slabbed.
Yeah. I gave it an acetone soak in the hopes they’d go. It helped the luster a lot it was just filthy. Bought it at an estate auction back when I was probably in my late teens. I don’t love the coin at all though. I’m looking for a unicorn as far as a 21 peace. A original appealing skin 21 with a really crushed strike. Ideally in the 63-4 range. I’d pay a heavy premium for one. Just finding it.
What i really love about this one is what i think most people miss. It’s not a 3 in the date. It’s an 8. Instead of a common as dirt 23 with nice color. It’s a high grade cac approved key 1928
