Many currency collectors prefer lower denominations, but the auction house seems to believe that this note could bring up to $5,000. The auction is tomorrow (Sat.) in case you wish to follow it and see the going price. https://bid.bkauctions.com/Solid-Se...rve-Note-PMG-Choice-Uncirculated-64_i51279518
It is a very nice note, but I am doubting that it will even reach $2,500. A $1 note will a matching serial is listed on eBay for less than 1K.
I can see how they could imagine that. A similar note and the results. The one shown has a slightly higher grade.
+1 I tend to avoid high denominations (solid or no solid #) & would pass on such a new series with no EPQ. Nothing turns me off more than dreamy auctioneer estimates.
That’s one hell of an estimate ! I have found from my experience that auction houses like to inflate estimates to entice higher bidding and values.
It very well may bring that much with all 8 digits of the serial number the same. Not from me but there are a number of people that are nuttier than I am.
somebody spent serious cash for a note that has a hard fold, I guess it's cool that it's a solid serial but for that I'll pass
Waaay to rich for my blood. Nor am i that enamored with it to need it for my collection. However, I don't see any fold, let alone a 'hard fold'. I'm not a currency collector, but I don't believe it could be graded in the uncirculated condition with a fold. What I think you're seeing is the shadow of the security stripe from the back of the note.
Cribbage is a whole different game. Love playing family on the holidays. 4's can make a good 20 hand. Even a 24 hand on a good day.
