Obvious fake with an obvious 2nd opinion! Have you even tried to attribute it from his images before you gave that advice?

I'm very sorry about the original poster's plight. I'm afraid fakes are just going to get worse especially since China is involved. Look at this fake slab trash, a bunch of these selling for less than 4 bucks on Temu. The only reason I noticed it was because it showed up in my Facebook feed. Zuckerberg is an evil person, another eye in the sky watching user online content. temu.jpg

No why would I, I was piggy backing on a comment from someone else. Clear from my use of "if that's the case" and "perhaps". I mentioned multiple times I know nothing about these coins though I did read your post here and learned alot. Still not enough to consider myself knowledgeable on the subject however.

Also everyone keeps assuming that if you say - a 2nd opinion, that means you have to shell out money or send it to a TPG. They aren't the end all be all, there are other venues to obtain an opinion, often for free.

Not really sure why I'm being attacked in this thread at the mere mention of having another person look at it, but ya know whatevs. It's all good.

I'm surely not "attacking" you, and you don't have to be "knowledgeable on the subject" to research a coin in an effort to attribute it and get a sense of authenticity. Images off the many internet sites like the one I used are easy to find if interested enough to look.

Back in the 1970s when my parents took us kids to the eastern states, mostly the colonial / witch hunt areas. I recall the stores having jars of "colonial coins." This was before the law requiring them to have a "COPY" stamp on them. I'm sure I have some (or had) laying around somewhere. But since getting more involved in coin collecting I always wondered what happened to all those coins sold and distributed all over the place.

Since I started getting in to Colonial coins years ago, looking back to those childhool days, I decided to only by certified coins as I'm truly not expert enough not have enough time (yes, some will say it's "easy" etc etc but that's not for everyone). So slabbed is the only way to go for me.

Good luck on getting your money back.
My CC has a 30 days time limit on refunds. I've in the past with raw coins notified my CC company if I were to send it out for certification so at least I have an open (potential) case.
