    It's considered environmental exposure toning damage to the Cupronickel clad layer.

    If it were me that is a good candidate for a Circam.
    Stuff it alone in your pocket everyday for a while.
    Most of these type coins are considered corroded or close.
    Your pocket will wear the high points.
