ICG being a 3rd tier grader would not have much of a chance crossing over to the big 2 PCGS or NGC, probably the cheif reason why you got such a good price.
Yes! Some like their gold and silver in shiny condition under a protective case! Some like old grubby coins in a jar! Me, I hate finger prints on my stuff! lol
Yup! It was either a pr70 from ICG or a pr69 from the big boys! Throwing an extra $200 for a pr70 from the big boys for the same coin doesn’t make any sense.
Most of this shows up already in OGP. Why waste your money? The stuff is treated as bullion, and as such, commands bullion pricing with no added premium. Leave the hair splitting to the drol's and enjoy what you have.......
I do enjoy what I have and feel lucky to do so. OGP? And here I was thinking I was getting better at this letter stuff! JMHO, Gold and silver look like a popular alternative to rare coins from the past. My grandkids would throw the old coins away and fight for the shiny ones! lol
Original packaging. I personally wonder which way it may or may not tone. I wonder what you have invested into it though. If you want to keep it and think that it will only go up in price, then get the reslab. Otherwise enjoy it or crack it and throw it into an airtite. Feel the heft of the coin first.
It's not bullion, it's a modern Commemorative. $1 face. Though it looks like the buffalo bullion round.
Oh dear, you're indeed correct Lon. For some odd reason I was percieving the piece as a gold buffalo. Thanks for setting me straight. Advice still stands.
with a new slab plus shipping I’ll be into it for about $210. I think that’s far less than other coins in Pr70 are being offered for today. This coin design is one that I think will keep folks interested in it for years to come. If I crack it open, the pr70 grade could be lost.
Lon, so when a coin doesn’t display a monetary value, It’s considered bullion and when it does, it’s a commemorative coin?
I purchased the 2001 buffalo because I really like the design, not because I think it will go up in value. The buffalo and the ww1 comm. are two of my favorites. To be honest, the only silver piece that I believe is going up in value and rapidly is the 2021 D Morgan’s. I have a pr69 2021 d but will try snagging a pr70 after Xmas.
Not necessarily, gov issued bullion does. I thought that he thought it was a silver one ounce buffalo round, which does not have a face value.
