The Sep Sev was oh so tempting, but I had recently picked up two eastern mint denarii already. I'm waiting to see who walked away with that one.

Nice Volusian btw. By and large his issues were actually reasonably well struck and centered, but they did tend to use the heck out of the reverse dies...

I like this one... The coin looks like a feisty little devil, even tho the Emperor was a dud...

I'm not sure why you feel the need to trash Treb's kid. Many emperors got there by being daddy's darling. Who has a Volusian as Caesar? I don't. There are three on vCoins right now but I won't be paying that for a 'dud'.

LOL, Yuuuup! Went back and looked at Volusians's history again. He's a dud.

I felt dirty "liking" that comment but I did it anyway.

Of course, even enjoy the villain Medieval figures.
If much of what was written is true about him, he was Rome's Kartrashian and even Bruce Jenner *trying to get a sex change*. Shows as much as the world has changed, people don't.

in 2003, a bunch of fake bronzes started turning up, usually mixed in with uncleaned coins. The style is terrible, but some people initially thought that they were unofficial issues. Here is a page about these "coins" http://www.fakeuncleanedcoins.com/

Thank you Victor! Well, those are positively atrocious. I can't imagine anyone who's looked even once at authentic, official issues would be fooled. But I suppose they could be passed off as ancient imitations - one of the reasons I generally avoid so-called barbarous LRB's, unless they are part of larger lots of official issues.
