    I dun learned
    gude.

I saw a 1945-s ms68 on Davidlawrence for $450. The same coin was on eBay for $495 or best offer. I offered $400 and they accepted. Deal of the century, no. Good deal, yes.

WOW those are nice. I'm sure you'll get offers through PM here. You can put them on eBay with a BIN and get what you are willing to take. If it were me I'd just sit on em and save up for the Mercs.

I hadn't thought of this, but someone mentioned Great Collections. I've used them and they are good to work with. It's very possible they can get more for your coins than you might get on eBay. They do all of the work, including photos. I think they only charge a seller no more than $10 per item consigned.

If you have a coin store near by, just go in and see what they would offer. You don't have to sell, just get an idea of what stores nearby are willing to pay.

Be prepared by knowing the going rate on ebay (or Great Collections / Heritage). Subtract about 13% (if using ebay: 10% to ebay without a store; 2.9% + $0.30 to paypal) + cost to ship & insure. If you are offered an amount that is close to the above and you are comfortable selling at that price, then sell to the dealer.

Note that no two coin dealers will be the same and the offers you will get can range greatly based on which one you deal with.

It's 5% for sub $1000 coins (0% for over), but it must be remembered that, as with most venues, most buyers will deduct fees, premiums, etc from their max. Not a bad thing, of course, but is something he should keep in mind is all.

I've occasionally sold coins and currency on eBay to upgrade my collection and have always gotten what they are worth. Sometimes I've even come out ahead. I don't think being a low volume seller has hurt me. eBay buyer protection takes most of the risk out of the transactions for buyers, so at least for me it doesn't matter how many prior sales the seller has.

Selling to a dealer gets you cash in hand immediately and you don't need to worry about the hassle of dishonest buyers or accepting returns.

My eBay fees(without a store) have averaged 16%-17%. there are ways to get it down to 6% if you want to run a business. I would be interested in all of those coins.

Offers to buy/sell/trade are only done on their respective subforum. We don't do that here.

I can't speak for firearms, but with coins such an approach is a recipe for disaster unless.... unless one has a very keen eye for both the individual coins and the market as a whole. Yes, buying on ebay for resale is a very common practice, but doing so to possibly resell to dealers is, well, generally not a good idea (if you know what I mean)....

Just because a large collection of Morgans and Peace are out of your price range doesn't mean you should sell the ones you have IMHO. You have nice coins there. I'd give it a lot of thought before I'd pull the plug on them.
