Cleaning out. What to do with these?

I finally got around to going thru some miscellaneous boxes from my uncle. I have a bunch of these type cards in the box. Not sure what to do with them. I am figuring as a source to fill my open slots in coin folders. I don’t really care about the cards. Not something I collect. Don’t see value in trying to sell, time and expense not worth it. This is a sample. Got a lot more of them. Any ideas / suggestions?

Very cool. I like them and have a few of them myself. I tend to hoard coin related stuff like this so, if it were me, I'd hang on to them. If you're inclined to run any contests, these would be great prizes to give out.

I’ve pulled several to keep that I thought were unique. Definitely the one with silver. These are all duplicates. I have as many as a dozen of some of them. Lots of Sacagawea’s, Susan B Anthony, war cent’s, etc.

I never did a contest but I was considering it.

Those are very nice and quite different. If you really don’t want them why not list them as a one lot deal?

@BuffaloHunter Got two of these also in the box. I’m going to hang all the ones mounted in frames. I have about 15 frames from the box with coins of various subjects.

Thanks. I like them too. Just don’t see a need for a dozen of each. Selling as a lot might be a good option.

What you don't want, Christmas donation to the local elementary school, for children.

That was a serious consideration. My wife and I don’t have kids so not really in that loop. I do have a nephew I have been giving some too in hopes to spark an interest, but not a lot there yet. Still got hope though.

I would put them on ebay as is and take any proceeds and buy coins you need.

I might get accused of “bah humbugging”, but as a practical matter you’re right. If those were mine, I’d trash the cards, save the coins that fit in my collection and spend the rest (or at the very least the low value moderns) and move on.

Caveat — if I knew a child who I thought was a candidate to become a coin collector, I’d definitely gift some of them. The story value of those cards might be enough to set the hook.

You could break your coins into lots and let the ppl here on ct recommend a reasonable price for each lot. Then once the value is established, offer them here as coins to sell. This way you can sell the coins to ct members at prices the membership know are honest and fair. If you sell on flea bay, they will take a chunk of the funds.

A local dealer offers sets like this on a regular basis. They are great for beginning collectors because they often provide interesting information. The thing you have to avoid to pay the original issue prices which are often quite high relative to the value of the coins. Unfortunately many of the coins in the wall hanging pieces have been cleaned or polished.

I tend to agree with you on this one. The ones in frames cover several different coin series and I thought I would hang them. Not that they are of high value but the subjects make interesting wall cover for my study.

That's was my hope also. Just don't really know a lot of kids. I have pulled a couple to give to my nephew.

    Thanks, that's a good idea.
