I think a good move. I’m very aware what a 78-s half is. One of the true underrated coins. And brutally aware how tough in original skin. Got a pretty good guess what you paid and don’t think it a bad investment

Haven’t followed him in awhile. He probably thinks I’ve completely dropped off the face of the earth as well. I had major life changes I had to do. We use to be really close. To splitting tables and hotel room at some shows. He’s a good dealer who’s come a long way fast. But I’ll probably get back into selling coins again as long as people accept the real me. The person that hid for 45 years

 

I almost picked on you. Then I figured out that you have had 45 years of collecting some sweet seated nd early coinage that I envy.

 

The world keeps changing and becoming more understanding of others on some topics. I believe we each have the right to be who we are and not what others want us to be. Being kind and honest with others is all it takes for me to like someone. I don't have much respect for those that seem to hate everything about others and this hobby.

 

I did not catch this earlier. Did you post what grade the 1878-S half is Barbarian? Also, is it a raw coin or in a slab?

Thanks! It is PCGS VG8, though it should be a G6, IMO. Here is a view with more direct lighting to show its surfaces. Secondary toning softens this look in hand. IMO, it's a C obverse with a B reverse. I'd pass on it if it were a 78-P. I love it as a 78-S. One of the few survivors. Of those, one of a handful I could stretch for and obtain. The low-grade examples don't come available often. I check that die mark on the upper reverse shield frequently. It's been fun.

 

Very unusual coin. I am trying to remember if I have ever seen a fully split sandal on a coin below fine before. I think PCGS got it right though. Sometimes the figure of Liberty is very strong and this is just such a coin. James

 

Not graded. A friend found some of their grandfather’s coins!

 

Nice one. I’d call it au 50 from the pics. Tough to tell about the luster and the reverse rim. But still attractive regardless

Four 1876-CCs

 

I'm back again, ready to bomb the board with Seated Liberty halves from a recent submission. I don't believe I've shown them here as raw, either. These were all raw coins off eBay, most of which were obtained over 16 years ago when nice raw coins seemed to be more readily available.
