What error is this and is it valuable in any way? The reverse side’s torch is either flattens or worn. Plus the rim seems to be flattened.
So @AnnaThomas8, welcome to CT! I see you have been here for a few days, yet we know nothing of your coin collecting experience & background. When did you start collecting? Do you have a particular focus, or just anything that's interesting? Why did you start this hobby?...etc. I ask because in the few short days you've been here, you already posted at least 4 coins that are of extreme average or less condition & in no way collectible (albeit, that '82 Zincoln with all those plating bubbles is a fine example of that problem). Please don't take this as criticism, as our esteemed & highly experienced members are eager to help all collectors in their endeavors. Please consider my previous recommendation to acquire a Red Book, as it has a plethora of information about U.S. coins. Coin collecting is a journey, not a destination. Have fun with it!
I will check on that Red Book. I been studying coins for at least a month now. Maybe even less. I ask these things because I try to do my research, yet I’m still stuck on a few things. There has been coins that I been curious about for a while, and I try to research them, but I can’t find answers.
I also want a few people’s perspective here. Because that would help a lot. I think that joining this forum would help get me answers because I been on this site and been meaning to register for a while. Now I am here.
The hard part about doing research online in this hobby is figuring out what's good information and what's garbage. Much of what's on youtube is over hyped exaggerated, sometimes outright false, garbage. So beware of those. Good suggestions above, I own a few red books myself. The people here are invaluable when it comes to knowledge, I've learned more here than I did in the previous 20 years of casual coin collecting. Ask questions, listen and learn, and have fun
Anna, a good YouTube channel to watch is coinHELPu. He's pretty knowledgeable and honest. He does videos almost daily on a plethora of different coin-related topics. He is the only YouTube channel that I recommend. I'm sure there are other good ones out there, but he's the main good one that I'm aware of, beings as I'm not a big YouTube watcher. Hope this helps.
