That is something you very rarely see in circulation.

What would your reaction be if it were a dime of the same date/MM?

Very nice find but, oooh that rust. I have not found anything to remove that yet but maybe someone here can help with that. Maybe Nic-a-lene?

Nice find even though it is not the dime.

Nice find, nothing quite like having not having to roll search for a cool circ find.

I know this fellow who spends 3-4 hours every morning "working" on coins, and this is something he too has yet to figure out. I cannot say with absolute certainty, but it's a rather safe assumption he's tried it without success.

    Congrats, Vet...

I know a guy who has had success removing rust from firearms but I don't know how it would work with coins. I'll see if I can find his write-up on another forum.

Very nice find... I found an 18-D not too long ago. I'm amazed better date and MM Buffalos are still out there.

This is proof that no one even looks at their change anymore. That's for sharing your story. Great pocket find :)

Very nice. I picked up 20 full date buffalos from a clerk at the store the other day myself. He saved them more me and I paid him $10. There was probably a full roll turned in, but this is what he had left for me.

Drop it in white vinegar and keep an eye on it. Pull it out when you judge it's had enough.

So, the 20 Buffalos that I got last week were used to purchase a cigar (weed wrapper, or just a Black & Mild single). I was so excited to get them, that I didn't originally inquire how my guy got them. Hopefully they come back with some more goodies for me :)

Don't take this as anything more than a notion? What would diluted CLR do ?
I don't have anything on hand. Except a few rusty nickels.
I am in the camp of even acetone can damage the coin.

Is rust eating the nickel compound or is that slag left on the planchet?
